13 Months Old -3

November 5 - November 11

Friday me and Evan went to Dan Witt Park. The temperature finally dropped a bit and we actually got to wear jackets! Fun! Aunite Tarie came and met us at the park and we played a bit and then went home for ravioli dinner. And this is becoming our little tradition, to have a play date with Auntie Tarie and then dinner date. Usually we watch a movie after Evan is fast asleep in his crib. :-)

Video from Dan Witt park on Friday:

Evan is lucky he goes to the park at least once a week, sometimes two or three times depending. He loves being outside, and taking the park is more fun than our crummy backyard. He really like freedom and exploring, walking on his own, and doing his own thing. He is impossible to hold hands with. He won't hold my hand, actually if I try to make him it throws him off balance and he falls down. We'll have to work on that!

Saturday was very cold...brrr! We broke out the sweatshirts, but only went for a walk around the block. We mostly played inside. And Evan took a super long midday nap.

This week was battle bath-time week. One word- MOLARS. I have no idea what cutting molars has to do with bath-time. Just hearing the water running for his bath would make Evan run, progressively it got worse it worse. Then it progressively started to get a little better, by Thursday he was sort of okay again, but still just a splish-splashing good time like we used to have.

Evan is so smart. He is a little too smart, sometimes for his own good. Like on Wednesday night when I was on the phone an cooking dinner and Evan kept going in daddy's special cupboard of empty beer bottles. Evan kept going in there and taking out a bottle! I will tell you the cupboard does have a child latch on it, he just knows how to open it. So he kept taking out the bottle and I kept going over and putting it back in the cupboard. Finally after 3 or 4 times, I said ok you just need to sit in your high chair and wait for dinner. So in he went, and since he never just sits in his high chair with no food, he complained for a few minutes but got over it. He watched some TV while I finished making dinner, then he ate his dinner and I put him back down and started cleaning the dishes. I turn around from the sink he had gone and gotten a beer bottle again!!!! So I went to take it from him and he lost his grip and dropped it, glass went everywhere of course. I had to lock him on the other side of the baby gate to clean it up and vacuum. That was his first little time out.

Also he knows that the top lock on the garage door is what he needs to reach and tries for it (we keep the door locked). He knows how to bring a bag of trash to the front door. We knows what it means to go on an adventure (this is what we say when he leave the house: we're going on an adventure, we're going on a trip!--well actually we sing it!), he will run to the front door and start banging on it if we say it and he will get really mad if we don't follow him and immediately leave the house. He has climbed up onto our coffee table. And he has made it onto the living chairs once that I know of. Still hasn't made it onto the living room couch, but I am sure that is coming soon! (ahhh!) He knows the q-tips are Rusty's ears (in our house) and he goes and gets them and pokes Rusty with them.He knows what a book is, and if you tell him to pick out a book to read, he can. So smart!
