August 5 - August 11
Daddy figured out that Evan likes to feed Apple and Rusty! He goes over to the bowls in the morning and sits in front of the bowls and hands the dogs each piece of food. LOL! I have yet to see it or catch it on video, but it sounds cute and very smart....maybe this weekend I will get to see it. Nana and Grandpa came over on Friday morning and they got to watch Evan do it.
On Saturday night Evan came with mommy over to Grammie's house. We were supposed to go to Splash Adventure but Ev's naps ran late and we couldn't make it before they closed, then it ended up pouring anyways. But we went over for dinner. Evan petted Gizmo (insert shocked face here) I was absolutely petrified that he was going to hurt the bird, but Poppie let Evan see Gizmo, his birdie, and Evan petted him with his two little fingers as gentle as could be. I wish I had that on video, but Evan was sitting in my lap. It was precious. After dinner mommy, Grammie, Auntie Tarie went with Evan to ToysRUs to browse for b-day gifts (cause that is coming up you know)... it was a blast!!! We played with everything! Evan even made a friend, there was a little boy that wanted Evan to sit next to him and ride on the display mini-cars. First they rode in a mini-Cadillac and then they rode in a sand cruiser and the nice boy let Evan drive too, it was so funny! I ended up buying Evan a firetruck couch. I couldn't resist it. And Evan also got a new puppy stuffed animal from Grammie because Auntie Tarie handed it to him in the checkout line and they couldn't bear to let him part with it. Meanwhile the cashier probably thinks I am a mean mommy because I am like just rip it away from him and he'll get over it, he doesn't need it. But Grammie said I want to buy it for him! Hmmmm...I think Evan is spoiled-just a little....perhaps.

me and Evan (with shoes!) ...didn't last long...

Evan also has started to try to say words, very randomly, we are starting to hear noises that sound like "dada", "hidadddie", "mama", "ahhh" (maybe apple)....he also still says "ungy" when he is mad and he says "blah-ba" when happy, sometimes he says "baba" (not sure if he wants a bottle?). It is pretty random so far, but he also talks consistently in a language I don't understand-The evish language...lol...
And some other new things Evan does is:
- drink from a cup with no lid (well better now). He'll take sip, put his hand in the cup, then take another sip, and put his hand the cup. I don't know what he is checking for but it is pretty funny.
-try to open door handles, like our garage door
-he can open the dog gate by himself
-he checks closed doors to make sure he can't get in
-he loves the dishwasher and will practically fly across the room to get to it, he likes to take the silverware out
-we are working on "so big"
-stands up in his crib and chews on the railing (this started last week, the chewing...ugh)
-Evan can clap his hands together and make sound
One thing Evan cannot do is take a bath in the big boy tub. I have tried it and it is a no-go. Something about it or the no-slip mat is scary to him. I don't know, but he still bathes in his trusty whale tub.
On Sunday we went out to Jay Marks. I had photographed Billy and his fiance Deborah at Vizcaya in the morning and then we met Evan and Dan at the restaurant for lunch. Evan did so good!!! He drank out of a kid's cup from a reg big boy straw (thank you Jenny for this inspiration). See Jenny visited with her son when he was 11 months and I was amazed that he could drink from a reg straw it made it so much easier to travel and take him to eat while she was visiting. Anyways so he ate a bread roll with butter, some tomatoes from bruschetta, and we ordered him penne pasta off the kids menu, which came on a HUGE dish, that was not a kid size portion at all, and I think he did not even eat one bite of it because he was too full of bread. He was very well behaved, except for the fact that he threw food on the floor. At our house we call it feeding the dogs, at a restaurant it is called being a heathen-child! LOL!
Here is Evan playing cards on Sunday night with daddy! 52 card pickup! LOL!
Wednesday was Evan's doctors appointment for his hand at the pediatric orthopedics, daddy took him to this appointment. The doctors said it was a-typical and to find out exactly what it is we have to go to a scheduled MRI at Joe DiMaggio where Evan will need to be sleeping sedated so they can do a full hand MRI. Scary stuff. I definitely thought that they would laugh tell it was nothing and send us on our merry way. I am absolutely petrified that he has to get an MRI, neither Dan or I has had one ourself, he seems so small to be put thru that.
This photo looks just like Dan!!!!
