24 weeks old

March 4 - March 10

This week Evan Daniel is doing great. We started on Thursday eating dinner at our dining room table (insert jaw drop), sounds funny to say. But Dan and I have always eaten dinner at our coffee table in front of the TV -since we have lived together. But we just decided with Evey starting food soon, we wanted to sit as a family at the big table. I think Evey likes it, although he does get a little restless towards the end of the meals, and he doesn't want much to do with his rubber straw sippy cup.

Friday Evan and I went grocery shopping together! It was our first time! Luckily daddy has been helping out a lot in the grocery department and took over when Evan was tiny. This time Evan rode in his moby and fell asleep about half way into it, at the deli counter actually. He is still too little for the shopping cart, maybe another month or so until he is ready for that? We got lots of comments, about six people commented, and I told daddy, it's mostly men that say "that looks soooo comfortable"..... kinda weird I think.....the comments from women aren't as freaky they usually say, "gosh I wish had made those when I had a baby" -or something to that effect. We had no trouble doing the actual shopping, but when i got to the check out I tried to look for a lane that was crowded so I could be all slow about getting the items out of my cart onto the conveyor, but this cashier ushered me into her line which was empty and so the bagger came up and basically unloaded my whole cart for me, and then he walked me out to the car and put all the bags in my trunk for me too. Thank goodness!

On Sunday we all went to a friends wedding reception together at Tradewinds Park. Evan was sleeping when we arrived in his stroller, but then the wind woke him up. He was awake for a little bit and then I wore him in the moby and he fell asleep again for a good hour. Everyone said what a good baby he was. He is the best! Always quiet and well-behaved, I am soaking it up while it lasts! Daddy says Evan must be like an 8 year old trapped in a 6 month old body because it seems like he knows stuff. But really I swear by the moby wrap, it is the best invention ever. I really want to get another one because I have no idea why I chose orange, in my head at the time I thought it was a good gender neutral color and maybe Dan would want to wear it too. But he does not, and now I look like a huge orange traffic cone everywhere I go! LOL! Anyways as long as Evan is next to me in the moby wrap he is pretty much always chill, it's great! I even took some photos while I was wearing him, he is such an angel baby.

We definately think Evan is getting a third tooth on the right side of his mouth. He keeps putting his little fingers on that side to chew on, poor baby.

Poppie and Grammie came over Sunday evening and brought us a babyfood making book! I am really excited to make Evan babyfood. We figure if we make a month's worth, then we will only have to make it a few times and before we know it he'll be doing reg table food. Right now Evan is practicing using a CUP, like a cup with no spout! The book I have recommends that babies not use sippy cups and become dependent on them because they cause speech problems. So that pretty much sold me on the straw cup, or no lid. We are trying both to see which he can get the hang of. I tried helping him and poured a tiny bit of water into his mouth from the cup and he spit it all out and made a face like gross! He also spat it out all over his outfit. I wasn't quite expecting him to do that, I thought he would swallow since it was such a tiny bit, I had to change his clothes afterwards. He does like his cup though and he knows what he is supposed to do with it and all, guess he just isn't a fan of cold water? He uses the sippy top as a teether. We had been giving it to him to practice holding the sippy cup lid because that is what the instructor from our introducing solid class recommended, but if I can get Ev to drink with a straw or cup I would prefer that even if it is a little messier.

We are in size 4 diapers now and we are now fans of pampers. It took me awhile to see the light I guess. I kept buying cheaper off-brands of whatever I had coupons for, but I give up. They are totally worth $7 more just for the SMELL of them.... hahaha, no other diapers smell like pampers...so we like the BabyDry ones and oh well if they are a splurge - they seem most the most comfy. I bought Publix brand diapers this week since I had a coupon and they are awful-that was the last straw for me, they felt horribly stiff and when he peed in them-they felt like a rock between his legs, he doesn't need that!
